Welcome To the Second Journey

The Second Journey is a campus leadership organization based on biblical paradigm. We educate young people in campus to have the Christian worldview, and make them humble social leaders who serve the society as the light of the world with the heart of Jesus Christ. Also we lead the young people to equip high level education goals in the campus to be prepared as effective leaders in the society.

Blessings!

Who we are?

HMC was established on May, 2008. We are mostly the Mission oriented church. God gave this vision to HMC which is a strategy by New Church Planting in America and another nation.

Our ministries and worship services are designed to draw together people in similar lifestages: college students, grad students and young professionals, international students, families, youth, and children.Explore the options to find the right place for you!

At HMC, we believe our faith in Christ should permeate all areas of our lives, from home to school to marketplace. We are a church that loves to study the Bible, pray, sing, eat, and carry life’s burdens together. Simply put, we strive to carry out Jesus’ Great Commandment - to love God and love one another – and His Great Commission – to bring his message to the ends of the earth.

Pastor Joshua Kim.

Why we start HMC?

America is the most influential country in the world. Whether that influence is good or bad, it becomes a standard that is spread throughout the entirety of the world. Despite being built on a Christian foundation, throughout history there has been a gradual decline in the influence of true Christianity. Satan has slowly infiltrated the 7 fields and has penetrated deeply into American society. Today it is difficult to decipher what is true and good and what is deception. Even the church today has progressed towards functioning through programs rather than through the very fundamental Word of God.

We have a very clear vision and purpose; to preach what Jesus has done and that whoever believes in Him will be open to seeing His signs and wonders. We will preach simple faith with a clear message. This will be accomplished through the planting of an HMC mission church in every city. Church planting is the most effective way to bring people to become believers and know Jesus Christ.

Although being one body, God gives different callings and visions to different parts of the body. We have started here because HMC’s calling is for America. America is certainly one of the biggest mission fields(for example: in San Francisco only 2% of the population is Christian). In order to have fruitful results we will plant our roots deeply into this mission field.

You are invited to join this project to be full-filled through Holy Joy.

Our mission is for each HMC member to know Jesus in a deeper, clearer and more personable way.

Our wish is for all people to become as us, to know Abundant Life through Holy Joy.

HMC Vision

1. Vision

Our vision is to spread abundant life through Holy joy in America by planting a mission oriented church.

2. Motto

Abundant Life Through Holy Joy.

3. Intro

HMC is a mission community which has been called to America as a new mission field.

4. Purpose

1) Evangelism

To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ as our Savior. God has given us 7 fields (Education, Family, Politics, Economics, Science, Media, and Church), and in these 7 fields we must minister in the name of Jesus as well as through our Lives.
How: Evangelism is not a gift simply received, but a command issued by Jesus Christ(Mark 16:20).

2) Discipline

To instill a discipline which causes rise to the Power of the Holy Spirit.
How: Using 3 principles (the picture of God’s Will, Cell Groups, and 1 on 1 meetings) we can grow everyday (Ephesians 4:13). The purpose of discipline is for mentors to equip and train with commitment. Our result is for people to witness the power of the Holy Spirit and to mature in Christ.

3) Sending Off

HMC exists for the sending off of members to plant churches (Acts 1:8) in 16 US cities and 3 foreign countries using the Holy Joy attained through the abundant life achieved in HMC’s principles.

5. How to?

Abundant Life through Holy Joy can be produced through 3 cores values: By using the authority of Jesus’ name, through the reliance upon the Power of the Holy Spirit, and through the Commitment of our HMC members.

What We Believe

1. Bible

We believe that the Bible is the flawless word of God written by Spirit-moved people, and the New Testament is the model of the saints' faith and life.

2. Trinity God

We believe the Father, the Son and the Spirit, as Trinity.

3. Jesus Christ

We believe that God the One and Only and Only, who is at the Father's side, appeared as Jesus Christ.

4. The Holy Splirit

We believe that our faith is confirmed by receiving the Holy Spirit as if being maked by a seal. The Holy Spirit also guides in our faith life, and He works when the Word of God is proclaimed.

5. Human

We believe that humans, who are made in God's image in God's perfect and permanent plan, became sinners because of the devil's temptation, but by the faith in Jesus Christ we can be justified.

6. Salvation

We believe that we can receive salvation only through the grace of redemption offered by Jesus' blood, that we repent and belong to be born again.

7. Church

We believe that Jesus Christ, who died for us on the cross, was resurrected and ascended to heaven, is the head of church, and that only Jesus Christ can make the laws of the church.

8. Ceremory and Ministry

We believe that there are only baptism and the Lord's supper as ceremony, and that there are only pastor and deacon as ministry.

9. End of the world

We believe that Christ will come back to judge the living and the dead, that there is a resurrection of saints and permanent life. We believe that unbelieving sinners will fall in eternal punishment.

Man is Spiritual Being

Man not only has flesh, but also Spirit. Thus, Thinking that death means the end of existence is wrong.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 "and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it." Mattew 4:4 "... 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God..." Luke 8:55 "Her spirit returned(she had died), and at once she stood up.

Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat." There is not only visible existence, but also evil spiritual beings who are invisible, threatening and harassing you. Hebrew 2:14-15 "....so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil-- and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death." Mattew 12:22-21 "Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see. All the people were astonished and said..." Luke 9:42-43 "..., the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father. And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus did,"

Man is Sinner

The biblical criteria of why we are a sinner is not the same as the laws of this World. One criteria is the Law of God. The Law of God does not change from one generation to another, place to another, individual to another. 'You are a sinner' means you broke the law of God. Think simply about the Ten Commandments. Exodus 20:3-17 "You shall have no other gods before me... shall not murder, shall not commit adultery,..." No one can stand before God as righteous. Romans 3:10 "As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;" As the offender who broke one of the laws of this world has to be punished according to it's law, a sinner who broke the law of God also has to pay the cost.

This cost contains curse, agony, anxiety, failure, depression, and death. Death is greatest among them, there are two types of death. The death of your flesh refers to your body returning to the land and the second death refers to your entering everlasting suffering through unquenchable fire. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Mattew 25:41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." You can take nothing with you when you die.

Jesus Christ Undertakes Our Sins

There is a way to escape from the curse that came upon humans as a result of sin and a way to overcome the oppression and aggression were of devil and demons. God opened the way to escape from the curse with the sacrifice of animals in old testaments. As the priest laid one hand on the head of the sheep and asked God for forgiveness, the sins were transferred to the sheep. As the death of the sheep was a parable about Jesus who would later pay for man's sin with His own blood freeing him from the consequences of sin. Leviticus 17:11 "... For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life." But animals do not have souls, so they cannot make atonement for the sin of human souls.

Man required the savior who can even takes the sin of the soul. God sent Jesus. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Jesus is the one who came to die for your sin. John 1:29 "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" Jesus took up the curse, poverty and diseases, oppression of devil and demon caused by our sins. Isaiah 53:4-6 "Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,...But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all."

Signs will Follow the One Who Saved

One is able to know when his body is living, whether he is saved or not. The Bible describes more than one kind of evidence to confirm! your already lives because you accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior and became a child of God.

1) The Bible is a record of God's promises to man. God kept all that he promised. He is trustworthy. He promised he would send Jesus and he certainly sent him and let him to take the sin instead of us. He promised one's sin will be cleaned and he will become a child of God if he accept Jesus. We can believe that we are saved through the word of God who is trustworthy.

2) Assurance of the Holy Spirit Jesus said those who believe in him will receive the Holy Spirit and power. The Holy Spirit is able to come upon only to those who believes in Jesus. The presence of Holy Spirit in you definitely assures you have became the child of God because you accepted Jesus. Although he is invisible, W are able to confirm! Holy Spirit's presence through the work(several gifts from holy spirit) of Holy spirit. John 20: 22 "And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth..."

Mark 16:17-18 "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." 2 Corinthians 1:22 "set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." Acts 2:4 "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them." Acts 10:45-46 "The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God."

You, who accepted Jesus, repent and ask eagerly in prayer for the Holy Spirit to indwell your soul, then you will certainly receive the gift of the Holy Spirit according to His promise. Luke 11:10-13 "...For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened...how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" Acts 2:38-39 "...Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call."

3) Peace and pleasure will come upon someone who is saved and he/she will meet God the Creator, and may discover the significance of his or her life. John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
